How long should it take to reach max level of a profession?
You can work 12 hours a day. And you are level 1 when you buy your workshop. Max level is level 5.
What do you think?

I don't think that it should be something that is too easy or else people are going to get bored. Too long and the same happens. I think that there should be certain levels in the workshop and each level should have a requirement.
For Eg:
Level 1: Buy equipment
Level 2: Make 3 level one items
Level 3: Make 5 level two items and 2 level one items
Level 4: Make 8 Level three items, 3 level two items and 1 level one item.
Level 5: Make three Exceptional items.
How quickly someone gets there is therefore determined by how much time they are willing to put into something.

I don't think we are going to be able to do "exceptional" quality stuff for now. We're in really deep at the moment so I think we need to save that for an update.
As you will be able to schedule 12 hours of "work" a day, I was thinking more about how many hours of work should it be to hit max level?
I was thinking about 150 game hours which would be the equivalent of spending about 12 full game days crafting to go from level 1 to 5. Bear in mind that you will also need to come up with the mats for this so it's likely to be much longer.
Also, recipes will unlock with each level. So yeah, if you want the good stuff, you need to be max level in that craft.

12 days seems too easy for me. If I level up that fast I would lose interest tbh, it would not be a challenge at all. Maybe start it there but if it proves too easy in testing adjust it?

Agreed.
I'm trying to find a balance between making it reasonably difficult and being too repetitive.
Suggestions?

perhaps in some way good roleplay could count towards advancement. there is really no way for a mechanical system to not be repetitive and ultimately dull. but insisting that people interact with other people to accomplish something, that's the soul of the thing anyway.
